Anxiety And OVERWHELM don’t have to win

Manage your anxiety instead of being controlled by it.

Your brain is spinning out, and you’re looking for some way to control your overthinking; the anxiety loop has begun and you don’t know how to stop it…let me help.


Most of anxiety doesn’t come from reality; it comes from our interpretation of reality. You might recognize the overthinking drill: “Why did I say that when I was talking to my friend yesterday. That was so dumb!” Or, “What if (insert bad thing here) happens next week when I have to attend that work function?”

But listen; our thoughts are not facts! Unfortunately, our brains don’t know the difference between our imagined fears and worries and actual danger, so we often avoid things that make us anxious, but that just intensifies the anxiety. We need to be able to face the anxiety, not run from it, and when we can do this, our fears and worries begin to fade and anxiety loses it grip.

I can help lead you there by:

  • Guiding you to learn and utilize techniques to settle your nervous system that are tailored just for you. These skills might include: breathing, meditation, grounding and maybe even things like dancing, cleaning, or listening to music. Whatever brings you to where your feet are.

  • Helping you explore some of your history to understand the roots of your anxiety (the more we recognize our past, the better we can adjust how we react to it today!)

  • Helping you learn about why we all have anxiety, and how you may even be able to find tangible ways make it work for you in the future. (I know, crazy, right?)

How managing anxiety can reduce Overwhelm

Don’t be held captive by the constant need to be productive.

I wish we could stop celebrating “productivity” as if it’s a life goal. Productivity can be great - sometimes. But oftentimes, riding this constant hamster wheel, and living on panic and a prayer, can leave us feeling pretty overwhelmed and unsatisfied. Let’s find some more balance and more purpose in our work and lives without driving ourselves into the ground doing it.

For many of us, anxiety is driving this need to overproduce, or wanting to be perfect. I tell my clients all the time, perfectionism is not a thing! Unless you’re a superhero, you are a flawed human, just like the rest of us. How about we strive for excellencism instead - credit for that great new word to Tracy Dennis-Tiwary, PhD, author of: “Future Tense: Why Anxiety is Good for You (Even When It Feels Bad)”.

We can ease up on ourselves. Maybe search for excellencism, but also find some time to stop searching. Relaxing is not a dirty word. It’s actually quite necessary to slow down, reset and find some stillness and balance in our day-to-day lives in order to reduce overwhelm. I work with people daily on this challenge and I’m confident I can help guide you with strategies to get there too.
